Focus On Reducing the Stigma

Education

Mental health is defined as “A state of well-being in which individuals realize his/her own abilities, can cope with normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his/her community.  (World Health Organization 2014)

Discussion

One in 5 people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime, and 4 in 20 will experience chronic, ongoing issues.  Mental illness touches all segments of society.

Promoting Hope
The future is not bleak.  With early identification of symptoms of mental illness, early intervention with effective treatment and support, along with stress reduction and a healthy lifestyle, all individuals can make progress toward recovery and lead full, productive lives.

Our project

A coalition of concerned citizens dedicated to identifying and addressing the mental health needs of our community.  We are composed of medical and mental health professionals,  legal and law enforcement professionals, education personnel, clergy, and suicide awareness advocates, and other community supporters.
